The Oyu Tolgoi Mine consisted of an open pit and an underground mine, a processing plant and supporting infrastructure including a raw water supply. The objective of the project was to draw water from the Gunii Hooloi bore field via a 75km pipeline with a 900mm diameter. SMEC's services included: the detailed engineering design of pipeline and fittings, booster pumping stations, water tanks, water storage facility, electrical elements, control, instrumentation, communication systems and access roads.
