As part of improving Afghanistan’s arterial road network, the objective of the project is to rehabilitate the 365km Chaghcharan-Gardendewal section of National Highway Six between Herat and Kabul. The road will be upgraded to a sealed two lane standard. SMEC’s services include: comprehensive field surveys and investigations including environmental baseline survey, resettlement and social impact assessment survey, detailed topographic survey, geological investigations, traffic survey and axle load survey; detailed designs for roads, drainage, cross drainage and bridges; economic and financial analysis; public consultation; preparation of detailed project reports, land acquisition plans, resettlement plans, construction drawings, unit rate analysis, cost estimates, detailed bills of quantities and bid documents for execution of the civil works.
