Robert joined SMEC in 2003 and is a Highway Engineer based in Sydney, Australia. Robert has over 10 years experience in concept development, detailed design and site design of large highway duplication and deviation projects including Erskine Park Link Road, Tarcutta Bypass and Gerringong Upgrade. Robert was the recipient of SMEC’s 2011 Male Young Professional of the Year Award.

Gabriella Tauni

Gabriella joined SMEC in 2010 and is based in SMEC's Canberra office. Gabriella has undertaken project management for the Transport Sector Support Program (Papua New Guinea) and General Education Quality Improvement Program (Ethiopia). She is currently studying a Masters in Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development at Australian National University.

Michael Jones

Michael joined SMEC in 2007 and has over 25 years experience in the surveying and spatial information industry working in a range of projects in the land development, power and water industries. He has managed major infrastructure projects including the deviation of Hyland Highway and the roll-out of the Powertel fibre optic cable from Albury to Melbourne.

Suzie Millar

Suzie joined SMEC in 2011 as New Zealand's Business Development Manager, when SMEC opened its first office in Auckland. Formerly Marketing Manager for AECOM’s global energy business, Suzie has extensive marketing and business development experience in the international energy sector. Suzie holds a Master of Philosophy in Business Studies from Massey University.

Nathalyn Jose

Nathalyn is a registered Civil Engineer with a Masters of Construction Management and Masters of Business Administration. She joined SMEC in March 2009 as the Country Manager Philippines. Nathalyn has extensive experience in civil engineering and management and is responsible for the growth and day-to-day management of SMEC in the Philippines.

John Armstrong

John joined SMEC in 2010 as the Australian General Manager Rail and has over 20 years experience in management of rail infrastructure projects including new rail lines, amplifications, grade separations, stabling facilities and stations. John worked on the South West Rail Link, North West Rail Link, Surat Basin Rail and the Northern Sydney Freight Corridor in Australia and brings extensive international experience.

Adam Kyriakou

Adam joined SMEC in 2007 as the Corporate Information Coordinator. Adam has experience in marketing and client relationship management, as well as implementation, development and continuous improvement of SMEC’s Business Management System. Adam is the Secretary of the SMEC Foundation and was elected to the Staff Consultative Committee in 2011.

Luke Drowley
“SMEC has plenty of career development opportunities. In five years with SMEC, I have always been involved in significant projects.”
Luke joined SMEC in 2006 and is a Senior Tunnel Engineer in SMEC’s Sydney office. He has worked on a wide range of projects including road and rail tunnels, desalination plants, hydro-electric schemes, sewer tunnels and cable tunnels. Luke has fulfilled detailed design, construction phase services, proof engineer, independent verifier and design team leader roles.

Zahid Iqbal

Zahid joined SMEC in 2004 and is the Regional Manager Pacific, based in SMEC’s Papua New Guinea office. Business and project management, public relations and business development activities are a major part of his work. Zahid has managed a wide range of projects including Transport, Infrastructure and Development sector projects.

Lisa Bennett
“SMEC offers staff the opportunity to work overseas – I was based in the Nairobi office for six months working on a major dam project.”
Lisa joined SMEC in 2005 and is a Civil/Design Engineer in Melbourne, Australia. She has several years experience in dam engineering, including design review, concept and detailed design for upgrade works for water supply infrastructure projects. Lisa specialises in concrete structures and embankment design, and has been involved in tender preparation.

Daniel Kabado

Daniel joined SMEC in 2005 and is a Senior Civil Engineer for the Transport Group in Tanzania. Daniel is responsible for business development; preparing Expression of Interest documents and proposals for projects in Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

Nia Barry
“SMEC is continually growing and there are opportunities for career progression.”
Nia joined SMEC in 1998 and is the Finance Manager for the Pacific Region. She is based in SMEC's Papua New Guinea office and is responsible for a variety of administration, corporate and finance activities. Nia has held the positions of Regional Reporting Manager and Administration Officer. Nia is the longest serving staff member in Papua New Guinea.

Marcus Olive

Marcus joined SMEC in 2009 and is the Regional Manager MENA, based in Qatar. Marcus is responsible for growing SMEC’s business in Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE. Prior to becoming Regional Manager MENA in 2011, Marcus held the positions of Regional Manager Indian Ocean and Commercial and Projects Manager for the Transport Group in Melbourne.

Samiul Hossain

Samiul joined SMEC in 2005 and is the Director for SMEC Bangladesh. He has experience managing large infrastructure projects from different functional sectors. He currently manages a portfolio of more than 25 projects in Bangladesh and is responsible for business management and development throughout the country.

Anna Lyapina

Anna joined SMEC in 2005 and is the Business Development Manager in the Kazakhstan office. She is involved in all financial and technical business matters for current projects and future opportunities in the Central Asian Republics and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Anna was previously a Project Manager and Business Coordination Manager.

Ricky Yim

Ricky joined SMEC in 2008 and is the Technical Director and Tunnel Manager for Asia Pacific. Ricky is based in Hong Kong and is responsible for managing tunnel design projects. Ricky is the Tunnel and Cavern Discipline Leader for the detailed design of Admiralty Station, one of the most complex underground station caverns in Hong Kong.
