Schoolchildren at Dian Ekawati preschool and kindergarten in South Jakarta are enjoying a newly renovated playground and classrooms thanks to a community service project called ‘A Better Place for Better Education’, undertaken by SMEC’s CSR team in Indonesia.

Together with local residents and volunteers, SMEC staff worked to repaint the building and repair cracked walls, damaged ceilings and playground facilities. The school had not been renovated for 35 years and repairs took around 12 days to finish. The teams also donated whiteboards, cabinets, teaching aids and books.

Project completion was celebrated with an activity day at the school, where teachers, students and volunteers enjoyed games and competitions.

This project was supported by the SMEC Foundation.
