This project will help to improve road safety and traffic efficiency from Matthew Flinders Drive to Greenmeadows Drive.
SMEC has been engaged by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to undertake the investigation, concept design and detailed design of the Ocean Drive Upgrade in New South Wales, Australia. The objective of the project is to improve road safety, traffic efficiency and residential amenity (including noise) along the Matthew Flinders Drive to Greenmeadows Drive section.
Project works comprise the duplication of 3.4 km of single-lane arterial road to a two-lane dual carriageway. This includes the conversion of three roundabout-controlled intersections to signalised intersections, and the extension of two BEBO® bridge concrete arch structures.
SMEC will deliver the concept and detailed design of the roadway duplication. This will include an investigation and review of environmental factors, including environmental impacts related to endangered native tree species and koala habitats. SMEC will also undertake geotechnical field investigations and community consultation workshops.
