Taiwan

SMEC has operated in Taiwan since 2005. SMEC's first project in Taiwan was a major landfill project in Taiwan for Cleanaway Energy Services. SMEC was engaged to quantify the greenhouse gas emission reductions created through the operation of Cleanaway’s four landfill gas sites that were used to generate electricity for Taiwan.

SMEC has recently worked on the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) project. The THSR connects major cities in western Taiwan between Taipei and Kaohsiung. The 345km rail system has become a key part of Taiwan's transport network.
