SMEC has been working in the Philippines for more than 30 years, beginning with the Zamboanga del Sur Development Project in 1974. Since then, Manila has become a regional office and SMEC’s projects have diversified, from highways and transport, water, hydropower and power, to social development projects such as health and sanitation, training and education. A subsidiary company, SMEC Philippines Inc, was established in July 1999 and it handles a growing projects portfolio.
