Water Supply and Wastewater

Since the 1960s SMEC has played a dominant role in the development and management of water supply, wastewater systems and sanitation in developed and developing countries.

Projects have ranged from rural community based supply systems in Asia to the largest of desalination plants in Australia, and from small rural waste water treatment plants in Australia to large urban water treatment plants in Africa.

SMEC’s experienced engineers have a comprehensive background in the master planning, feasibility assessment, design, contract documentation, construction supervision, commissioning and project management for all aspects of water supply and wastewater infrastructure. On the largest of projects SMEC has reduced client risks with proof engineering and independent verification.

SMEC can provide a wide range of services including: feasibility, process and detailed design for water supply, water treatment, wastewater collection and conveyance, wastewater treatment, water re-use, stormwater harvesting, major water infrastructure development and climate change adaptation.
