SMEC has operated in Fiji since 1977. SMEC’s first project in Fiji was the Yalavou Rural Development Project. This project assisted in the development of rural agricultural infrastructure including irrigation, road networks and water supply.
Since then, SMEC has expanded its operations throughout Fiji and lit the following as key clients: the Government of Fiji; Department of Energy and Ministry of Public Utilities; Water and Environment and Resource Management Consultants; International Risk Limited; and Fiji Electricity Authority.
SMEC’s project experience in Fiji extends to cyclone assessment, electrification projects, tourism planning, maintenance management training and a technical audit for a significant road project. More recently, SMEC has been involved in Fiji’s National Energy Security Situation Project, which investigated measures to avert a national energy crisis brought about by external forces. SMEC made recommendations for measures to ensure an affordable, stable and secure source of energy.
SMEC aligns local knowledge with global expertise to address the needs of its diverse client base, and has delivered thousands of projects in more than 100 countries, including Fiji.
We draw on the skills and experience from across the Surbana Jurong Group to offer enhanced capabilities and reach, delivering a complete value chain of services across Urban Development, Infrastructure and Management Services.
