SMEC has operated in Zambia since 1996.
SMEC’s first project in Zambia was a study on the structure, organisation and management of technical and vocational education in Zambia. The objective of this project was to strengthen educational institutions, thereby improving the quality of education provided.
Since then, SMEC has been engaged on a number of projects throughout Zambia, these include: design and construction supervision for Zambia’s first Cancer Diseases Hospital; the upgrade of the 15,500 capacity Arthur Davies Stadium; feasibility studies to Zambia’s Rural Electrification Authority; and a review of management systems of the Department of Technical Education and Vocational Training.
SMEC aligns local knowledge with global expertise to address the needs of its diverse client base, and has delivered thousands of projects in more than 100 countries, including Zambia.
We draw on the skills and experience from across the Surbana Jurong Group to offer enhanced capabilities and reach, delivering a complete value chain of services across Urban Development, Infrastructure and Management Services.
