The project will benefit more than 1,000 villages in the Sonbhadra district and is part of the Indian government’s strategic plan to ensure the security of drinking water in rural India.
SMEC’s strong local presence in India, excellent track record of completed projects in the irrigation and road sectors, and global expertise in water supply projects were key to this appointment.
SMEC welcomes the announcement of A$300 million in funding to help build a new ship lift facility in Darwin, Australia, in addition to the A$100M already committed by the Northern Territory Government.
