SMEC has been engaged by India’s Department of Rural Development in Uttar Pradesh to provide consultancy services for the overall planning, engineering survey, detailed hydraulic design and preparation of detailed design reports for piped drinking water supply schemes in the district of Sonbhadra in the State of Uttar Pradesh.
The project will benefit more than 1,400 villages in the Sonbhadra district and is part of the Indian government’s strategic plan to ensure the security of drinking water in rural India.
SMEC’s strong local presence in India, excellent track record of completed projects in the irrigation and road sectors, and global expertise in water supply projects were key to this appointment.
SMEC has partnered with Deakin University, a member of the innovative Australian Technology Network of Universities, to undertake research and development to improve urban sustainability in Australia and abroad.
