SMEC is providing engineering services related to the Development of Rural Roads Asset Management in South Africa. As part of the role, SMEC will upskill a local emerging consulting engineering firm.
SMEC South Africa has been appointed by iLembe District Municipality (IDM) to provide professional engineering services related to the Development of Rural Roads Asset Management.
The purpose of this new appointment is to develop the District Municipality’s Road Asset Management, Pavement Management, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Traffic and Bridge Management Systems in accordance with Technical Methods for Highways (TMH), South Africa’s technical specification for design.
As part of the appointment, SMEC will upskill a local emerging consulting engineering firm. This skills transfer initiative will be aimed primarily at Graduate engineers who will shadow SMEC employees throughout the course of the project, in order to gain experience necessary for their professional registrations.
