The Lwela Bridge Project will help support the transformation of Zambia from a landlocked country into a land-linked country.
SMEC has been engaged by the Government of Zambia’s Road Development Agency to provide detailed design and construction supervision services on the Lwela Bridge Project. Located in the Luapula province of Zambia, the project will comprise construction of a 30 m bridge and two box culverts spanning the Lwela River.
This project is financed by the Government of the Republic of Zambia under the Annual Work Fund. This fund forms part of the Road Sector Framework (RSF) Program, which is designed to support the transformation of Zambia from a landlocked country into a land-linked country.SMEC’s services will be delivered in two phases: Design and Construction Supervision. In the Design phase, SMEC will prepare detailed designs and construction drawings based on technical investigations, surveys and analysis. During the Construction phase, SMEC will be responsible for the technical and financial supervision of works to client standards. SMEC’s role will also include preparation of tender documentation, and economic and environmental studies.
