On 21 February 2022, SMEC South Africa hosted a visit by Singapore’s High Commissioner, Mr Zainal Arif Mantaha, and Second Secretary (Political), Mr Lem Han Wei.
SMEC South Africa is an active member of the Singapore chamber of commerce and the visit highlighted opportunities to build relationships with delegates across the regional business network. Attended by key members of the SMEC Pretoria team and sister company Soillab, the event enabled staff to learn about Singaporean stakeholders operating in South Africa.
Mr Mantaha and Mr Wei were welcomed to the SMEC office with an introduction to the team and presented with an overview of SMEC operations in South Africa. The highlight of the event was introducing our guests to the Virtual Reality room where they had a chance to experience two SMEC projects using the VR headset. The Montrose Interchange, (N4 National Route) is currently in construction and was developed completely in 3D.
Reflecting on the evening André van der Walt said,
“We’re honoured to have had the opportunity to host Mr Mantaha and members of the Singaporean High Commission. The Singapore chamber of commerce has established strong bonds to South Africa, so we were delighted to showcase some of our projects and build stronger ties with the team.”
