The SMEC Foundation donated A$25,000 for replanting six hectares of tropical rainforest that were lost at the Samboja Lestari orangutan rehabilitation centre during major forest fires in 2015.Located one hour’s drive from Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, the Samboja Lestari sanctuary is one of Indonesia’s most renowned orangutan rehabilitation and rescue centres.
