This project will focus on modernisation of irrigation system infrastructure; and the management and implementation of program management systems.
SMEC has been engaged by Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited (KNNL) to provide consultancy support services on the Karnataka Integrated and Sustainable Water Resources Management Investment Program (KISWRMP) in India.
Funded by the Asian Development Bank, the project will focus on: the modernisation of irrigation system infrastructure; and the management and implementation of program management systems.
Under this contract, SMEC will provide technical support for the coordination, implementation, capacity building, and program and financial management of the 4,500 hectare Gondi Irrigation Canal System modernisation. SMEC will also support the planning and coordination of designs for Tranche 2 sub-projects, including the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal and Vijayanagara Canals.
SMEC’s services will include: preparation of feasibility reports and bidding documents; contract management and packaging; capacity building and training; environmental and social safeguard monitoring; quality control; and construction management.
SMEC has partnered with Deakin University, a member of the innovative Australian Technology Network of Universities, to undertake research and development to improve urban sustainability in Australia and abroad.
