
SMEC technologists awarded Highest Academic Achievement in South Africa
Two technologists at SMEC South Africa offices were honoured by the Institute of Professional Engineering Technologists with the Highest Academic Achievement award countrywide in Bachelor of Tech Engineering for the 2018 academic year.
Two technologists at SMEC South Africa offices were honoured by the Institute of Professional Engineering Technologists with the Highest Academic Achievement award countrywide in Bachelor of Tech Engineering for the 2018 academic year.
This is an annual award for highest aggregate mark in the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree. Corlia Rens was recognised as the highest achieving female graduate and Nurudeen Nieftagodien as the highest achieving male graduate in the field of civil engineering.
Both graduates were studying at the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth.
Corlia joined SMEC at the end of 2015 as a trainee technician. She has three years of experience in urban design, documentation, civil engineering infrastructure design, hydrological/hydraulic investigation/analysis and design, bill of quantities and administration. She is based at SMEC South Africa’s George office in the Western Cape.
Nurudeen joined SMEC South Africa’s Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape office in September this year. He has extensive experience in roads, water reticulation, sewer reticulation, storm water and platform in the sphere of Civil Engineering in a local government environment and private sector.
