SMEC has been engaged by the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed Distribution System Master Plan (DSMP) across four regions of Tanzania: Mbeya, Arusha, Dodoma and Mwanza.
The scope of the study includes forecasting load and analysing power systems; economic and financial analysis; developing an environmental and social management and monitoring framework, evaluating development scenarios and preparing conceptual designs. The feasibility study will result in a working document that will guide the development and implementation of distribution projects to address the increased demand for power in Tanzania.
“SMEC has a long history and deep experience in electricity transmission and distribution sectors,” said Nasser Harrasy, Regional Manager East & West Africa. “We’re proud to contribute our expertise to this study which will provide a strategic blueprint for planning and implementing power distribution projects in Tanzania.”
