SMEC has been appointed by the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) to provide project monitoring consulting services for the upgrade and extension of electricity distribution systems in rural areas of Bangladesh.
SMEC has been appointed by the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) to provide project monitoring consulting services for the upgrade and extension of electricity distribution systems in rural areas of Bangladesh.
A combined total of 38,535 km of selected lines will be rehabilitated, upgraded or augmented, 11,965 km of new lines will be constructed, and 57,834 new transformers installed.This project will supply electricity to 950,000 new consumers. SMEC’s role is to oversee project implementation, ensure the project is implemented in accordance with BREB and ADB guidelines, and industry best practices, and build staff capability.
This is the third major project win for SMEC with BREB, who received financing from the Asian Development Bank and Government of Bangladesh for the project. SMEC’s quality delivery and performance on previous projects were key to securing this win.
