Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, visited the existing Tumut 2 underground power station on Monday 28 August as work progresses on the Snowy 2.0 project.
SMEC is partnering with Snowy Hydro on the Snowy 2.0 Feasibility Study which will be completed by the end of this year.
If built, Snowy 2.0 would increase the generation capacity by up to 50 per cent, making up to 2000 megawatts available to the National Electricity Market.
