opens
new
flagship
office
in
Assam,
India
On 25 March 2023, Chief Minister of Assam, Mr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Mr Simon Wong, jointly inaugurated the first SMEC office in Guwahati.

Located near the Brahmaputra River in the northeast state of Assam, Guwahati is one of the fastest growing cities in India, providing an opportunity to further support current and future clients in the region. Over 70 skilled staff members will work from the new location, with plans to expand resources over the next 18 months.

 

Dr Uma Maheswaran – Chief Operating Officer, South and Central Asia said, “SMEC Guwahati office will be a “Regional Design Centre” – to cater to our aspiration of developing a strong local presence in the region and becoming our clients’ preferred choice. SMEC is building a strong local presence in the region with an objective to deliver sustainable solutions that benefit both clients and society. The vision is to promote regional growth, create job opportunities, and contribute to the overall progress of the North–Eastern Region.”

 

SMEC has numerous key infrastructure projects in the area, including a bridge over the Brahmaputra River, power transmission projects, urban development in Nagaland & Tripura, road infrastructure improvements in Manipur and Guwahati’s city development plan. team has also impacted the lives of millions under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, aiming to provide a functional household tap connection to every rural household in the country.
