SMEC has been engaged to provide detailed engineering design consultancy services for the upgrade of over 200 km of roadway in Uganda.
The project is being executed in two phases:
- Phase 1: Economic feasibility study, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and Preliminary Design of the proposed roads
- Phase 2: Preparation of a Detailed Engineering Design, Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) and Production of prequalification and bidding documents.
Uganda’s road network requires substantial development to meet forecast traffic demands. The objective of this project is to improve the quality of the national road network to enhance connectivity and facilitate increased trade and mobility throughout Uganda’s western regions.
Project works comprise the rehabilitation of rural roads connecting the villages of Kabwohe, Bwizibwera, Nyakambu, Nsika, Ibanda, Kabujogera, Mashoro, Rwenjaza and Kyambura.
