SMEC provided consultancy services for the design and construction management of several infrastructure upgrade packages, including concept, preliminary, detail design, contract administration and construction surveillance for the upgrade of Kawana Way, Lake Kawana Boulevard and proposed future transit precinct.
Specific design elements involved roadworks, bridgeworks, signalised intersections, stormwater drainage, water quality, sewerage reticulation, water supply, bikeways and pathways, road furniture, pavement design and Authority Approvals.
SMEC managed the interface between multidiscipline consultants working on various elements and facilitated approvals with both the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, Unitywater and Sunshine Coast Council.
Tanzania’s rural road network plays an important role in the economic status and development of rural and remote areas.
The objective of this project is to support the Government of Tanzania’s efforts to reduce poverty and boost living and economic standards in remote areas through the improvement of over 85 km of rural roads.
Project scope includes the upgrading of rural roads with a Bituminous Surface Treatment (BST), a sand seal top and concrete pavements.
The project comprises five lots located in the southern highlands of Tanzania.
Two lots are located in the Iringa region (Iringa and Mufindi districts) and three lots located in the Ruvuma region (Songea and Mbinga districts).
