SMEC in Azerbaijan
SMEC has operated in Azerbaijan since 1995. SMEC’s first project in Azerbaijan was the development of a commercial management system for Azerenerji (a public electricity supply company). The project introduced a modern accounting and financial management information system to the company as part of a corporatisation process.
With experience in the Water, Environment, and Education, Governance and Government Advisory sectors in Azerbaijan, SMEC has assisted the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources to implement institutional reforms in the areas of environmental assessment and monitoring. Most recently, SMEC was engaged by the Islamic Development Bank to provide an independent due diligence review of the proposed Mingacheur Hydropower Upgrade.
