SMEC in Hong Kong

SMEC has operated in Hong Kong since 1994, opening a permanent office in Sheung Wan. In 2010, SMEC moved to larger offices in Cheung Sha Wan and in 2019 we will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary. SMEC is s member of the Singapore-based Surbana Jurong Group, which provides a talent pool of 14,500 people working across a network of more than 130 offices in 40+ countries across the globe. Together with Hong Kong sister companies Robert Bird Group and B+H Architects, SMEC in Hong Kong and in Macau is part of SJ’s North Asia Region, headquartered in Shanghai.

 

In Hong Kong, SMEC provides engineering services in civil infrastructure, transportation, geotechnics and tunnelling, and also the highest quality environmental services, including asbestos. SMEC works with Hong Kong Government and a wide range of private sector architects, developers, construction contractors, planners, utility providers and transport operators. We are also one of the leading firms in Hong Kong acting as Independent Checking Engineer (ICE) for a wide variety of property and infrastructure projects. Major projects that SMEC has worked on include MTR’s Express Rail Link, Sha Tin to Central Link, West Island Line and South Island Line; the Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point; the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macau Bridge Hong Kong Link Roads; reclamation works for the HKIA Third Runway Project and other airport-related buildings/infrastrure; and the Integrated Waste Management Facilities at Shek Kwu Chau.
