SMEC in Indonesia

SMEC has operated in Indonesia since 1970. Its first project was a pre-feasibility study for the Larona River Hydroelectric Project in Sulawesi. Since then, SMEC has undertaken a number of other projects, including:

  • The Indonesia Infrastructure Initiative, a seven year, AUD 153 million project managed by SMEC and funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade;
  • The Eastern Indonesia National Road Improvement as Project Management Support Consultant;
  • The construction supervision of Palembang Light Rail Transit in South Sumatera; and
  • The Metropolitan Sanitation Management Investment Project for design and construction supervision of sewerage systems in three cities.

SMEC works in partnership with PT SMEC Denka Indonesia, an Indonesian company founded in 1992. SMEC International Pty Ltd and PT SMEC Denka together have the combined capabilities and resources to deliver consulting engineering services for major infrastructure projects throughout the transport, water, power and resources sectors in Indonesia.

 

SMEC in Indonesia provides services throughout the lifecycle of projects, including: planning studies, pre-feasibility studies and feasibility studies, engineering design, construction supervision, project management, capacity building/institutional strengthening, environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA), and public private partnerships advisory services. The Indonesia team includes project managers, civil, structural & geotechnical engineers, mechanical & electrical engineers, environmental scientists, and supporting GIS, BIM & CAD staff.
