SMEC in Kyrgyzstan
SMEC has operated in Kyrgyzstan since 1998. SMEC’s first project in Kyrgyzstan was assessment of flood damaged infrastructure and preparation for reconstruction in Jalal-Abad and Osh Oblasts in the southwest of the country.
Since then, SMEC’s projects in Kyrgyzstan have included education sector reform, flood emergency rehabilitation and development of strategies for customs modernisation and infrastructure development.
With experience in the Water, and Education, Governance and Government Advisory sectors in Kyrgyzstan, SMEC was recently engaged to assist the Government of Kyrgyzstan with institutional development and capacity building to improve water resources management and to implement a new national Water Code.
