SMEC in Qatar
SMEC has operated in Qatar since 2003, and established a permanent office in Doha in 2004. SMEC’s first project in Qatar involved the secondment of professional employees to the Roads Department of the Qatar Public Works Authority for three years.
Since then, SMEC has worked on a range of projects throughout Qatar, including: West Bay Roads and Infrastructure Project; Feasibility Study for a Waste Reception and Management Facility; post-contract consultancy service on the Qatar State Mosque Project; and project management and construction supervision for Al Khor International School.
More recently, SMEC has been appointed by the joint venture of Habtoor Leighton Contracting Qatar and Al Jaber engineering to provide independent design verification services on the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route.
