SMEC Australia is proud to be named a WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) for a second time.

We first received the citation from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) in February 2020, acknowledging our active and continuous commitment to achieving gender equality across the business.

“We are extremely proud to be publicly recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality as we continue striving toward our mission to build a flexible, inclusive and diverse workplace where our people, clients and partner communities feel trusted, safe, confident, valued and understood,” said James Phillis, CEO SMEC Australia and New Zealand.

The WGEA EOCGE citation is designed to encourage, recognise and promote active commitment to accomplishing gender equality in Australian workplaces. There are several key focus areas of the citation including:

• Leadership, strategy and accountability;

• Developing a gender balanced workforce;

• Gender pay equity;

• Support for caring;

• Mainstreaming flexible working;

• Preventing sexual harassment, gender-based harassment and discrimination, and bullying;

• Driving change beyond our workplace.

“Each year, we accept applications for our WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation from those employers who are raising the bar when it comes to driving change, creating the circumstances that allow all people, regardless of their gender, to thrive,” said WGEA Director, Mary Wooldridge.

“After passing through our evidence-based benchmarking evaluations, our EOCGE citation holders are officially recognised as some of the best employers in Australia who are committed and dedicated to action in achieving gender equality.”

SMEC is committed to being a flexible, inclusive and diverse employer whose culture creates a sense of pride both individually and collectively.
