SMEC in Fiji

SMEC has successfully delivered quality projects to clients in Fiji in the transport, water and environment, energy, urban and social development, education and governance and government advisory sectors.

SMEC has operated in Fiji since 1977. With over 40 years of technical and managerial capability in the advisory, design, construction supervision and governance roles in infrastructure development, SMEC is now represented in Fiji with a permanent regional office. SMEC has assisted our clients to realise their requirements in development and engineering projects and has demonstrated strong technical and managerial capability and understanding of the local conditions and the environment.

SMEC’s first project in Fiji was the Yalavou Rural Development Project which assisted in the development of rural agricultural infrastructure including irrigation, road networks and water supply. SMEC expanded its operations throughout Fiji, and key clients include Government of Fiji agencies such as the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), Water Authority Fiji (WAF), Energy Fiji Limited, as well as Management Consultants, developers and investor clients amongst others.

With a bright future and growing economy in Fiji, SMEC will continue to strengthen its presence in the infrastructure; hydropower and energy; urban, social and rural development; and environmental and climate change sectors with a focus on expanding services into new market sectors.
