SMEC
signs
Memorandum
of
Understanding
to
become
a
Knowledge
Partner
for
the
Ministry
of
Transport
in
Tajikistan.
SMEC embarks on a new challenging assignment as a Knowledge Partner with the Center of Digitalization of the Transport Sector, which is a legal entity organized and operating by the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan as an autonomous body under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport.

Working alongside the digitalization of the transport sector team, the partnership will establish an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) enabling a more effective Operations Management Capability of the Ministry of Transport, ensuring digital readiness to meet the future demands of Tajikistan and Central Asia transport sector. 

 

The role will involve developing a strategy and policy for digitalization of the transport sector including road and rail transport along with multi-modal hubs and logistics parks with a holistic perspective.  The activities will involve collaborating with the Digitalization of the Transport Sector (DTS) encompassing the entire country of Tajikistan to be implemented over five years.  

 

SMEC will be leading this partnership through various other activities including capacity building and knowledge sharing with the DTS personnel, support, and developing the policy and regulatory framework for the entire DTS system. Additionally, SMEC will initiate collaborative research and development required to develop the DTS system.  

 

The ITS deployment will involve business process re-engineering through organisation change, business process change, and the ITS deployment integrated and deployed together. SMEC and the DTS teams will work together through the entire cycle of the project from conceptualisation to deployment and commissioning of ITS across the country.
