SMEC South Africa’s Management Services Function has been appointed by the City of Ekurhuleni for the management of the City’s Water Meter Processes in the following regions within Gauteng Province: Germiston, Katlehong, Boksburg, Edenvale, Vosloorus and portions of Tembisa.
Location

South Africa

The project includes management of new water meter installations, disconnections, restrictions, reconnections, preventative maintenance, repair and replacement of water meters.

In addition, SMEC South Africa will be responsible for the management of appointed contractors; administration and monitoring of the City’s water meter related complaints logged on the City’s Complaints Management System; and Updating the City’s billing system. Other water meter management related functions include:

  • Credit control functions
  • Strategic meter management
  • Smart metering as-and-when required basis
  • Meter audits/inspections/ad-hoc readings

The project is due to run until June 2023, resulting in a two and a half year appointment.
