Conference
Road infrastructure plays a crucial role in keeping our roads safe, allowing our communities to seamlessly connect to people and places.

SMEC’s Team Leader of Transport Planning and Advisory Laura Procter, alongside Transurban’s Head of Network Performance Andrew Eckersley, will be presenting on how Burnley Tunnels innovative Australia-first Pacemaker lighting is enhancing safety and efficiency at this year’s 2023 Australasian Road Safety Conference. 

 

“I’m proud to present alongside Andrew Eckersley from Transurban. Together we’ll be discussing how the design and implementation of the new pacemaker lighting system in the Burnley Tunnel is allowing drivers to intuitively maintain a more consistent speed, improving throughput and road safety within the tunnel,” stated Laura Procter.” 

 

The Australasian Road Safety Conference 2023 is the region’s biggest road safety conference providing an opportunity to engage, challenge and exchange ideas, discuss key issues, and share and learn from the experience, opinions and perspectives of sector leaders and peers.

Team Leader – Transport Planning & Advisory 

 

Laura is the Team Leader of SMEC’s Traffic Engineering and Road Safety team in Melbourne with over 17 years of experience in traffic engineering, transport planning, road safety, project development, and project management consulting. She has a broad range of experience from completing a wealth of projects, including as the Traffic Lead in several large civil design projects. Laura is passionate about leading by example and encouraging her team to develop safe and innovative transport solutions for SMEC’s clients.
