Victor is a senior-level Professional Engineer with over 29 years of experience in Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in the branch of Engineering, specialising in Traffic and Transportation, from the University of the Witwatersrand. Victor has vast experience in Transport Planning (road and public transport), Traffic Engineering, Highway Management and Sustainable Transport disciplines, at various levels of government and in the private sector. Victor has a strong background in business development and strategic planning in his professional career to date, and in his role as Functional General Manager for Planning and Traffic Engineering at SMEC South Africa, was instrumental in delivering some of South Africa’s largest traffic engineering projects, including events such as the 2010 FIFA World CupTM Transport Projects for the City of Johannesburg and Limpopo Provincial Government and the Sandton Ecomobility Festival; the Rea Vaya BRT Network Planning Project in the City of Johannesburg; the City of Tshwane Rapid Transit BRT Network Planning Project and the feasibility study for the expansion of the Gautrain Rapid Rail network in Gauteng. Victor has also gained experience working abroad and spent part of his career developing his traffic and transportation skills in the United Kingdom. He has also acted as an external examiner for various MSc dissertations and peer review papers on Traffic and Transportation topics including Non-Motorised Transport and Public Transport Operations on an annual basis for the Southern African Transport Conference (SATC). Victor has also been a member of the South African Institute of Civil Engineering Transport Committee for the past six years.
